Information for students of the 8th semester of first-cycle studies

CHOICE OF THE SUPERVISOR (semester 7)

The selection of the supervisor takes place through an e-course common to the fields of architecture and interior design.
Students are informed about the launch of the course in a separate message.
The registration procedure will look like this:
1. Students upload their portfolio to the appropriate task module, in accordance with the instructions provided (3 selected design works from the period of study - 1 project per page, and graphic, drawing, sculptural works - 1 page
2. Students mark their preferred supervisor on the list - only one person can be indicated.
IMPORTANT:
Information about promoters is included in the group descriptions - please check whether:
– the selected supervisor conducts diplomas in a given field (architecture, interior design)
– in what language (Polish, English)
– and find out what the limit of people for a diploma is.
The limit of people results from the standards of architect education and internal arrangements related to other employee duties. The promoters will not be able to accept more people than those indicated in the description.
3. Promoters accept selected students (the order of applications does not matter)
4. Unselected people receive an e-mail informing them that they need to be re-elected.
The procedure is repeated 3 times - after the third round, free students will be randomly added to available Supervisors.

CHOOSING THE TOPIC OF DIPLOMA THESIS

The topic of the diploma thesis should be indicated before the start of the diploma semester and 

The application for acceptance of the thesis topic should be submitted via the USOS APD system:

  • The application is submitted by the supervisor. The superisor (in consultation with the student) fills in the data concerning the thesis, then student signs the application (electronically in the system) - deadline until the end of the winter semester
  • before the start of the summer semester, the appropriate Faculty Committee accepts the thesis topic card.

The thesis should be uploaded to the USOS APD system by June 30 - the deadline for submission of the thesis is the moment when the thesis is accepted in the system by the supervisor (after reviewing the result of the JSA anti-plagiarism test) - NOTE - the time for the test should be taken into account - from 24 to 48 hours (in case of high load).

In the case of engineering diplomas, it is not possible to implement your own topics. Detailed materials for the topics of engineering theses are available on the ekursy.put.poznan.pl platform.

DIPLOMA THESIS DEFENSE (duration approx. 1 hour):

The defense of the diploma thesis is public, guests can be invited to it - an exception may be a pandemic situation and imposed restrictions. The defense cannot be recorded in any way by anyone present in the courtroom.

  1. Opening of the defense by the Chairman of the Committee on behalf of the Dean of the Faculty of Science and Higher Education.
  2. Presentation of the thesis: The graduate has 10-15 minutes to present his or her diploma thesis.

The diploma student prints the diploma boards and brings them to the Faculty on the designated day (schedule).
On the day of defense, the boards are moved to a designated room where the diploma examination takes place. The graduate brings a model of the project. During the project presentation, the Student may use printed boards or present a multimedia presentation. It is not possible to add elements not previously included or to correct parts of the diploma thesis and project. The Committee evaluates the scope of work uploaded to the system, and before the defense, Committee members read the digital versions of the boards and the written work. Based on them, the reviewer enters an opinion into the system. A physical model of the proposed building or complex is presented to the Commission at the conclusion of this part.

  1. Review of the thesis: The reviewer reads the prepared review, after listening to the entire review, the Student answers the Reviewer's questions.
  2. Discussion: The Chairman of the Committee begins a discussion regarding the diploma thesis. All people present in the room can take part in the discussion.

CLOSED PART

(only the Student and the Committee Members remain in the room):

  1. Diploma examination: The committee asks the diplomat 3 questions. To pass the exam, the Student must obtain a positive grade for at least two of them. 
  2. Meeting: The Student leaves the room, the Committee members determine the grades for the defense, the diploma thesis and the exam questions.

OPEN PART

  1. Announcement of results: the Student and guests return to the room, and the Chairman of the Committee announces the result of the defense.
  2. The Student whose work has been assessed with a grade of 5.0 is obliged to leave the printed boards at the University. The boards can be collected after one year.
